Used by many states and EPA approved, this strong transparent bag holds a nontoxic, nonnutritive tablet containing 10mg of active sodium thiosulfate to neutralize chlorine at the time of collection. As an added feature, Thio-Bags® have:
- A Convenient Write-On Strip
- Markings for 100mL and 300mL Measurements
These markings help the technician collect the correct amount of water as required by the testing procedure. The write-on strip will accept virtually any writing instrument and minimizes ink smearing on the surface.
100mL Thio-Bag®
A box of 100 bags, 7 x 16 inch, takes up considerably less space than a box of 100 sample bottles. The 4oz (100mL) size bags are packaged 25 in a sealed bag, four bags per box, for easy use. The entire lot is sterilized as a unit of 100.
300mL Thio-Bag®
When it is necessary to run multiple tests, this 18 oz. Whirl-Pak® Thio-Bag® will provide a 300mL sample. It contains three times the amount of sodium thiosulfate as the smaller Thio-Bag® and will hold 300mL when filled to the top of the white write-on strip. Packaged in a box of 100 bags.
In the 18th edition of Standard Methods, it states “For some applications samples may be collected in pre-sterilized plastic bags” and “Pre-sterilized plastic bags containing Na2 S2 O3 are available commercially.” The Thio-Bag® meets both of these descriptions. The Thio-Bag® is also approved for collection of microbiological samples for “National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System” (NPDES) compliance monitoring.
