Glass wool is near microscopic fineness (pore size 8u) and is strong, resilient, soft and pliable. Made from borosilicate glass, wool contains no heavy metals and is practically free from fluorine and alumina. Low alkali content makes it suitable for use as filtering medium. Also widely used for cushioning pipets in detergent and solution jars. Supplied in woven roving, approximately 2 inches in diameter and 22 feet long.
